Who We Are
We are a campaign of over 400 faculty members working to decertify Pasadena City College’s current faculty union representation and replace it with a California Federation of Teachers local union.
We are diverse community of faculty from all parts of campus: Full-time, Part-time, Noncredit, Instructional, Non-instructional, Arts, Sciences, Humanities, Counseling, Library, and more! We joined together over the past year because we believe every faculty member deserves an equal voice in our union, and that our union should bring us together.
We meet weekly, not just to plan this campaign: we enjoy the solidarity and friendships we have formed while trying to make our workplace the best it can be. We want to bring this sense of community into our union so we can all work together for all of our best interests!
This campaign has been actively underway since Summer of 2022— this is an unprecedented amount of time for a campaign like this!
The December 2022 election was nullified after an appeal by the PCCFA. After we collected even more wet signatures, PERB ruled that CFT was allowed to file again! After that, the PCCFA also wanted to limit the voting pool to only faculty who taught in Spring 2023, slashing the number of part timers who could vote. The great news is, PERB ruled in CFT's favor in this matter as well! Part-time employees will be eligible to vote if: (1) worked on behalf of the District in a bargaining unit position during two or more of the last six instructional terms (Spring 2022, Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Summer 2023, and Fall 2023), including at least one of the most recent three instructional terms (Spring 2023, Summer 2023, and Fall 2023); and (2) were not terminated by the District for wrongdoing or barred from District reemployment. We are so excited to enfranchise as many voters as possible!
